barzillai) - I placed 2nd in the 2007 Gen Con championship with a landspeeder squad. As one of the Rebels' big Twin Attacking followers, the Landspeeder is best used with Princess Leia, who grants an extra (Twin) attack (Note that the +4/+10 bonuses only apply to the first shot of the extra Twin though). I also included Han Solo, Rebel Hero to give the Landspeeder Advantageous Attack. This 3-character combo can pump out a lot of damage per turn at long range, making short work of Jedi Weapon Masters and the like. (The squad was rounded out by Lobot, R2-D2 and C-3PO, and an Ugnaught Demolitionist)
The other big Rebel twin attacking shooter follower is Han Solo, Scoundrel, who has the advantages of Cunning, Evade, Accurate Shot and access to Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Spirit, but is otherwise much more fragile. I find the Landspeeder to be more robust and forgiving, with tons of HP and FP and a higher base attack, and it has a lot of tricks:
Force Alter very handy for avoiding critical hits and especially disintegrations. So if you're fighting Boba Fett, Bounty Hunter you will want to close in as quickly as possible, so he's within range 6 when he shoots. And if you're desperate, use it as a poor man's Lightsaber Block.
Jedi Mind Trick another good reason to close in with Boba Fett, Bounty Hunter. If you win initiative, take your twin attacks (but don't spend a FP rerolling if you miss) then toss a Jedi Mind Trick. The Range 2 on the mind trick is great for fighting Jedi Weapon Masters, you can avoid their Duelist and still use this ability.
Lightsaber Deflect its one advantage over Evade is that it still works when you're adjacent. So when fighting a shooter with Evade, you'll have the advantage if you stay adjacent.
Speed 10 and
Mobile Attack - the large base tends to slow the speeder down but Speed 10 really compensates for this. In clear terrain, a speed 10 mobile twin attack really lets you keep the speeder safe.
Be careful about placement, though - unlike Han Scoundrel, the speeder doesn't have Accurate Shot so your opponent will try to force you to shoot at nothing but Ugnaughts. This where Princess Leia is helpful, her respectable attack can often take out the blocker to give the Landspeeder a clear firing lane - just in time for the Landspeeder to take its free shots.
This mini is one of the most competitive incarnations of Luke Skywalker in the game so far!
