Okay, it’s time to get cracking on Gencon 2012, August 16-19. I really enjoyed running the show last year, and hope to have learned from the few mistakes which were made, and make this year amazing! First off, I will need people willing to judge and run events. I have finally finished the event schedule, and I am very excited for it. We have trimmed down the amount of events this year, due to attendance from last year, but this will make things much more manageable, that is for sure. One thing we are also doing is moving the Championship to Friday. There are quite a few reasons behind this, but it should allow people to play in the big event for SWM, and get to some of the big events for other games, which are typically on Saturday, as well. Due to the lower amount of events, the amount of badges and hotel rooms we will have available to us will be lower, as well, so I can’t be as free-giving as last year. To earn a badge, you must judge at least two events, have two full shifts on the computer, or a combination of the two. To earn a spot in one of the hotel rooms, a minimum of three events/shifts are required. One new “position” I will be looking for is someone to take charge of our prizes. Last year was a pain never knowing who was going to be getting prizes to the convention center and back to the hotel each day, and so whoever volunteers for this will earn a badge as well. It will not be the easiest thing in the world (ask the boys who helped me last year!), but it is very important, regardless. Details to follow, of course. So, if you want to volunteer to help out this year, contact me. A PM here on SWMGamers works, but, what with smart phone apps and all, I always prefer Facebook. I won't me making any decisions for a while, but it's always great to have names in mind when I'm working on the schedule. I look forward to working behind the scenes to get everything ironed out very soon, and then it's just a waiting game for Gencon 2012 to get here!
