At the risk of seeming foolish for asking a silly question, I'll risk it...

Why not have a rotating Restricted List?

Seems that there may be quite a few candidates drawn from the great custom maps that are out there, and there are maybe a couple of WoTC maps that could warrent a secont look. Why not select 6 or 7 maps from the pool of candidates for this year's organised play, then change to a different group of maps the next year, and continue to rotate it. Might be a way to freshen up organised play if every year there are all new maps to work with.. just a thought.

Feel free to rip it to shreds :D

It's not a terrible idea. The problem is this:

-Extra Work, that's maybe unncesary
- Who knows where this game, or Organized play will be
- We need to create a demand for the maps, or there won't be any reason to keep making new ones, rotating the maps may advesely effect that.

Yeah I can see the demand problem for sure.

I guess it'd be pretty confusing for any newer players too.

Well, as it stands right now, we already do kind of have a rotating map list. We have changed the way maps are set up every year, for the last 2 years. And the year before that, there was a restriction at Gencon for the Championship that only certain maps were allowed. So, for the last 4 years (that covers ALL of the Championship events to date), the map list has been different every time.

I suspect, as long as there are still new maps coming out each year, that the Restricted List will likely change in minor ways no matter what.
