Jedi Cartographer's Map Pack (#1) is a limited edition, fan created Map Pack of 6 maps, Designed and Produced by our very own Jedi Cartographer (Matt Francella). Only 300 copies of the Map Pack were created with the coveted 1/300 going to Boba52 in recognition of his aid in promoting and play testing of the Map Pack.

The Map Packs were originally set up as a pre-order item, as JC needed to have a hundred orders so that he could afford to produce the maps. This goal was easily reached and the Map Packs were delivered to JC's home on April the 5th, 2008. Individual orders were sent out shortly after. On each Copy of Echo Base is a signed and numbered sticky of authenticity, as well each envelope has a custom return address with an iconic Star Wars character on it.

Ordering Info
Here are the directions to order straight from the source- Payment is $35 US or $41 worldwide (shipping included)

You would send your Paypal payment to Jedicartographer@yahoo.com. When you do this and have 2 forms of credit listed (ie credit card or bank account) your payment is instant. If you don't have 2 forms of credit your payment will work like a check and will have to clear before shipment can be placed. Once payment is clear, shipments go out the Wed or Sat of the following week.

You can also order from Epicminiatures.com if you wish, but you still end up paying JC through Paypal, so it is ultimately your choice. Just make sure if you do this you don't send your payment to Epic. If you do, you will still get your pack and the money will still get to JC, but your shipment could be delayed and we don't want that now do we.

A Little History From Boba52
Quote:
Jedicartographer is the creator of these maps. He didn't have a way to print them, so he was using Cafepress as his distributor. He would give them a map to sell and they sold it for $17.99 and he got $1 store credit for every map he sold and therefore when he sold 18 maps he could finally get one for himself. I started to work with him because I have access to a plotter and laminater. I didn't have any WOTC maps, only custom from Holocron, so he scrapped the Cafepress plan and started just sending me the JPG and I would send him his maps in exchange for WOTC map/minis worth of shipping and my time. This started his brain child of somehow getting maps to everyone. He found someone who could mass print maps, but the cost is still very high. Basically at $35 for 6 maps he is not making very much money and is able to get the maps made and ship them to everyone. At the end of the day that is all he really wants. So, when he has sold 100 he will put them in production to make 300 total. Whatever he doesn't sell online he will bring and sell at GenCon. If he sells all these and recoups his costs then he will no doubt make a 2nd map pack with all new maps. (that is why I am slaving myself out) Because more maps is a very sweet thing and I want him to have plenty of incentive to keep on keepin on.

This map was inspired by the Jedi Enclave from Dantooine in the Knights of the Old Republic video game. The map has a really nice balance to it, like most of Jedi Cartographer’s maps. The ‘gambit’ zone is all contained in one area of the map, and neither side has a quick or easy path to reach this center point. The left side of the map is forced to advance through two, three-square doors, and the right side must advance through the hallways along the top or bottom. The small rooms scattered around this map make it excellent for scenarios or RPG use, and can be utilized very well by melee-centered miniatures squads. Shooters will still find some long firing lanes, but in many cases, melee pieces will have plenty of cover to make easy advances across the terrain.

This map is not DCI legal at any point level.

This map is an excellent recreation of the interior of the Rebel base on Hoth. The left side of the map features the hangar bay where the snowspeeders were parked, and already has three by three square outlines for you to place your snowspeeders. The right side has narrow tunnels, and even includes a bacta tank in the center-right room. While at first glance this map appears to be very closed off, it is still a good map for Huge pieces, especially ones with ranged attacks, as there are still very few places where someone could fully hide. The myriad of doors helps keep early long range shots to a minimum, but once those are open, there are a multitude of options for advancing on your enemy with this map. Because of these features, this map makes a great option for skirmish or scenario battles.

This map is not DCI legal at any point level.

This map was inspired by the scenes of the planet Felucia from Revenge of the Sith. You can see the giant purple mushrooms that dot the landscape, but Jedi Cartographer took his artistic license to envision an outpost amid the jungle of fungi. This map has some very interesting angles for shooting lanes, but also gives plenty of cover for advancing melee squads. The ‘gambit’ zone is somewhat split up around the room in the center of the map, so that should create some great battles around the door way there. The various small rooms make for great staging points for attacks, or for your commanders or other weak HP pieces to get close to the battle, but still stay somewhat out of sight. One of the neat details of this map is the table in the upper-center of the map, which displays a miniaturized view of the entire map in the form of a hologram on the table.

This map is not DCI legal at any point level.

This map is actually an updated version of an older map that Jedi Cartographer had created. Not only is it a vast update in terms of looks and graphical quality, but there are subtle tweaks to the layout as well that turn this into a very nice skirmish map. Well balanced for both sides, the wide streets make this a good map for Huge pieces, while providing lots of fun “shoot it out in the streets” style of game play. This location is also based on the popular Knights of the Old Republic video game, and gives a fairly good representation of that location. RPG and custom scenarios will enjoy using the cantina area and the various small buildings scattered around the map. These also make for nice small areas for battles to get close and personal, and provides for nice alternative routes from the streets.

This map is not DCI legal at any point level.

This map is inspired by the capitol city of the planet Naboo as seen in The Phantom Menace and the Star Wars Battlefront video game. This map has a very close-quarters feel to it, and is excellent for squads without a lot of long-range damage potential. There are several different ways to advance across the map, and possibilities for flanking your opponent are rampant on this map. The ‘gambit’ zone is centered right on the middle of the dais in the center room, and is completely contained within that room, causing the fight for the center of the map to get quite heated in most games. Cover is abundant on this map as well, so squads that are only targetable when the enemy is adjacent can do exceptionally well on this map as well.

This map is not DCI legal at any point level.

Dxun Mandalorian Camp, Revised - Found in the Jedi Cartographer Map Pack #1, a Fan-created resource available for a limited time in 2008 through the http://www.swmgamers.com forums and http://www.epicminiatures.com.

This is the other map in the Map Pack #1 which Jedi Cartographer updated from a previous rendition. Major changes for this map where in the graphical quality, though there are some minor layout upgrades. This map is based on the location from the Knights of the Old Republic II video game, and is an excellent themed map for playing those Mandalorian squads, especially since this map has plenty of options for ranged attackers to sit along the edges and shoot just about anything they want. The center double doors cause this map to have a fairly centralized point for much of the fighting, though the two side doors at the top and bottom offer some limited flanking options. This map plays very similarly to the official Jedi Praxeum map, which you can see in their similar layout. The nice difference with this map is there are more rooms on the right side. The Dxun map also provides a great alternative from the official Endor Shield Generator map, and makes for a great map for base assault type scenarios.

This map is not DCI legal at any point level.
