Princess Leia, Hoth Commander
(Bounty Hunters)

Commander Effect
Whenever a non-Unique ally would be defeated, with a save of 16, it instead immediately returns to play with full Hit Points

Analysis
  • Allies must be Non-Unique
  • Applies to any Allies (Rebels, New Republic if in NR squad or Fringe)
  • Returns in original starting area
  • If unit has used Force Points, they return with only amount they had originally used

User Comments
{Fool} One of the better Leia CE's this allows you to "resurrect" your characters when they are killed. Totally trumped by Disruptive squads though. Wookiee Freedom Fighters are great in these builds.

{Barzillai} It's often hard to choose which Princess Leia you want to use in a squad, most of them are pretty good and Princess Leia, Hoth Commander is one of the best. Her CE is best used in high point value games when you are playing a large number of non-uniques. (in contrast, the A&E Princess Leia's CE works better at lower point totals and is somewhat diluted as the point total increases.)

Compare the effect of Leia, Hoth Commander's CE to the various Reserves abilities - with Reserves you usually have a 5% chance of getting 20 points of characters each round, but Leia's effect has a 25% chance of working, so in a typical game you'll get a lot more points of "free" characters from Leia Hoth Commander than from, say, a Rodian Black Sun Vigo. Also, since your opponent gets points for killing Reserves, they can be as much a liability as an asset in DCI games. But Leia's CE does not give your opponent extra scoring opportunities - on the contrary, she effectively steals earned points back from your opponent! (No points are scored if the character does not stay defeated but returns to play.)

I've found she works very well with swarms of Wookiee Freedom Fighters, since they are quickly able to re-enter combat from the starting area, and actually benefit from the move since they are usually adjacent to an enemy when they are defeated. Others use her with melee swarms and the Ithorian Commander - especially Human Force Adepts, who are more apt to return since they can spend their Force points to reroll the save (44% chance of returning). And of course, the Felucian Warrior on Rancor represents another excellent non-unique Force user who can benefit from this CE... nobody wants to see one of those coming back at full strength! Give it Force Spirit (from a defeated Obi-Wan or Yoda) and suddenly it's rerolling its save twice, for a 58% chance of coming back!!

Rebel Captain
(Bounty Hunters)

Commander Effect
Rebel trooper followers within 6 squares gain Twin Attack.

Analysis
  • Must be in 6 squares
  • Affects Rebel Followers with "Trooper" in their name
  • Grants the Twin Attack. Special Ability

User Comments
(Fool) - This is a pretty solid CE for the Rebels - especially since any Rebel Character with "Trooper" in their name can make a Twin Attack (as long as they are in 6 squares). This includes the Hoth Troopers and the Rebel Heavy Troopers as well as the Hoth Trooper with Atgar Cannon.
(Ruhk) - Also goes well with the Hoth Trooper with Repeating Blaster Cannon. Add in a few more commanders and a troop cart, and you can have a devastating +10 with 6 attacks for 30 damage each!

(Ruhk): A pretty cheap commander but can boost some good pieces, like the JWM or the Felucian on Rancor.
